Mustard yellow blocked against blue, panel by printed panel.

Why this piece

  • Colour-blocked rather than all-over printed, with linear grids, checkerboards and small semi-circles across the panels.
  • The dupatta finishes in fringed ends on straight vertical panels, so it needs no further trim.
  • Stamped in Bhagalpur from hand-carved wooden blocks, never screen printed.

Two colours, many grids

Mustard yellow and blue are set side by side in defined panels, each filled with a different geometry: linear grids, small checkerboards, rows of semi-circles, picked out in white, black and brown. Straight vertical panels run down the dupatta and end in fringe.

Styling

Mustard is the shade that lifts a dull working week, and the blue keeps it from tipping into loud. Stitch the top so a single colour dominates and use the other for the sleeve bands, and keep jewellery to a minimum since the panels are already doing the talking.

The details

  • Top: 2.5 metres, 44 to 45 inches wide
  • Bottom: 2.5 metres, 44 to 45 inches wide
  • Dupatta: 2.5 metres, 35 to 36 inches wide
  • Weight: 600 to 650 g for the top, bottom and dupatta together
  • Stitching: up to 4XL for a straight kurta set, with the length customisable for larger sizes
  • Lining: optional, as the fabric is opaque and needs none
  • Care: dry clean the first wash, then a gentle cold hand wash
  • Craft: hand block printed in Bhagalpur with hand-carved wooden blocks
  • Dispatch: printed by hand, and still dispatched the next working day
  • Collection: Chaupar

Because every impression is stamped by hand, small shifts in the print are part of the piece, not a fault in it.
